After what has been a complicated year, Ubisoft have issued an apology for the lackluster launch of this year’s current generation installment of the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Unity and have offered upcoming free DLC for those who had picked the game up this November as well as removing the Assassin’s Creed Unity Season Pass from all online marketplaces at the time of writing.

Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto CEO Yannis Mallat took to the News section of the official Assassin’s Creed website for the apology, citing the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity to be an exciting time for both fans and passionate developers alike. Unfortunately, many players had reported game-breaking bugs and unexpected technical issues. Mallat disclosed that these problems deterred players from getting to most out of Assassin’s Creed Unity and the development team are hard at work releasing patches to rectify them. The most recent patch notes can be reviewed here.

In the mean time, Mallat also announced that the upcoming DLC for Assassin’s Creed Unity titled ‘Dead Kings’ will be free for all players as it releases in the coming months.

“To show our appreciation for your continued support, we’re making the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings DLC free for everyone. For Season Pass holders, we will also offer the choice of one additional game from a selection of Ubisoft titles for free.” Mallat announces, which is referred to as the ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity Offer’.

The Assassin’s Creed Unity Offer can be viewed here, which covers when the Dead Kings DLC will be available, on what platforms and if you are eligible for the offer or not.

Mallat concludes “We will continue striving to make Assassin’s Creed one of the most ambitious and innovative franchises on the market, and we thank you for your continued loyalty and support.”
